A bit about ourselves...

Hi,
My name is Jeff and my wifes name is Liz, we are 38 years old and have a 21 year old son named Ricky. We live in sunny Brisbane, Qld, Australia. For a crust, I work as a Manufacturing Manager with a plastics company and my wife works as a lab assistant for a medical company. Our son works as a machine operator in the same company as myself. We are animal lovers and hate any type of cruelty to animals. My wife and I have a 3 year old staffy named Flossy and our son has a 2 year old staffy named Juana.

The original reason we got a Staffordshire Bull Terrier
We were out one Friday night for about 1 hour, in that time, our house was robbed and incredibly we were cleaned out. Luckily insurance replaced everything. We decided that we needed a dog. The dog we were after would need to be loyal, intelligent, family orientated, affectionate, protective, compact yet full of courage and strength. If you didn't know it, I have just described the Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

A brief history of the Staffy
Staffies were first bred in Staffordshire,England in the early 1800's for the barbaric sports of bear and bull baiting and dog fighting. They were bred by crossing the then, bulldog for strength and determination and the old English terrier (now extinct) for speed. When the so called sports I have mentioned were banned in the late 1800's, the breed would have become extinct except for a few men who realized what a loyal, affectionate and intelligent dog the Staffy was. Thankfully, the breed was kept going and is the reason people today can enjoy the companionship of the Staffy.
